JANESVILLE, Wis. (WIFR) -- It's a major investment in Janesville, creating hundreds of new jobs, and developers hope it also brings new families to the area.
Saturday is the official grand opening of the one million square foot Dollar General Distribution Center.
Since December, nearly 400 workers have been packing, tagging and loading inventory for the more than 800 stores the center serves.
Developers say they hope bringing new jobs to Janesville will eventually lead to more families choosing to move to the area.
Jennifer Zweifel has lived in Janesville her whole life, she say she remembers when General Motors closed down, and says seeing this new distribution center open means new opportunities for the area.
Dollar General says they expect to have 600 workers within the next few years.
