UPDATE: Rockford Public Schools say they are looking for even more drivers before the school year starts in the fall.
RPS says on their last job fair, 15 new drivers went through training and say they are looking for at least 15 more to start their driving classes next Monday.
RPS Transportation Executive Director Mike Slife says they will always keep the hiring process open as drivers filter out.
"We needed 30 now we need another 15 or 20 but were always goign to be hiring and keep that process going to keep up with turnover and other people taking jobs and finding other work or just natural attrition," says Slife.
RPS says anyone interested in driving but has never been behind the wheel of a bus can take a test drive in a parking lot to see if the job is for them.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Just one day after approving a new contract with bus drivers, the Rockford Public School District says they want to hire more drivers.
District 205 says they want to hire 30 new drivers starting fall of 2017 and is taking applications now, starting with a job fair.
RPS says they are looking for drivers with a clean record, who work well with kids.
Executive Director of Transportation Michael Slife says with contract negotiations now in the past, they are ready to move forward with adding new drivers for the upcoming school year.
"The need came from just an overall shortage not having a pool of candidates right off the bat, we had a lot of things going on at the end of the school year and now we're up and running and ready to go and we're looking for those drivers,” says Slife.
RPS says anyone interested in applying who didn’t make it out to the job fair can apply online. The link to that website has been attached to this story.
