Democrat Ameya Pawar Ends Campaign for Governor

CHICAGO, Ill (WIFR) -- Democratic Chicago Alderman Ameya Pawar announced that he is withdrawing from the race for Illinois Governor saying that it has become clear his campaign will not have enough financial resources to obtain his party's nomination.

In a statement Alderman Pawar said, "I have a young family, and we decided not to take on more personal debt right now. As to cutting staff, I simply refuse."

Pawar says he will now launch a political action committee called 'One Illinois' to organize young people around progressive issues that he focused on during his campaign.
