ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Curran's Apple Orchard is crossing off what it calls another successful season.
Curran's family members say closing for the season doesn't mean a break from work. They are pruning their trees and buying new ones.
Owners are also busy stocking up on the gifts they sell. Despite some challenges, they are happy with how the year played out.
"We had a really nice crop of apples, actually. Earlier in the year, we got hit by hail, which actually wasn't that bad because we used those apples in cider. November, every weekend it rained, so that hurt business a little bit, but all in all, it was a really good year," says Pat Curran's grandson Patrick Riofredo.
Curran's Apple Orchard will be at City Market and will open back up in late August.
