CHICAGO, Ill. (CBS) -- The trip from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles for Game 1 of the NLCS gets a little longer for the Chicago Cubs, after their plane is diverted to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A team spokesman says the early morning flight had to be diverted for what they call a "non-player health issue". WBBM, the CBS affiliate in Chicago reports a family member of a player had a health issue and was taken off the plane to receive medical treatment.
The Cubs' flight landed in Albuquerque at around 5:30 a.m. local time and sat on the tarmac for more than three hours because a new flight crew was needed after the original crew hit their restricted pilot hours, according to CBS Chicago.
Game 1 of the National League Championship Series will begin at 7:08 p.m. Saturday night in Los Angeles.
