WISCONSIN (WIFR) – Drivers north of the Illinois-Wisconsin border can expect some construction on some of Beloit’s major thoroughfares.
Work is expected to begin next week southbound on Interstate 39-90 between the Shopiere Road interchange and the Illinois state line. Crews will be adding a lane to both directions. It will remain open to two lanes both north and southbound during peak travel times. Wisconsin DOT officials say it’s all part of an effort to accommodate more drivers, especially on the weekend.
Crews will also remove and reconstruct the Stateline bridge over the interstate. It will be closed to all traffic on Monday. The bridge will be removed the following week and will be rebuilt by mid-August.
