ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR)-- The Rockford Park District, along with several of its partners, celebrated the completion of enhancements made to Sabrooke Park. The new park includes new equipment, synthetic turf play surfacing, a new drinking fountain and spray pad, and new asphalt pathways, basketball court, and fence around the existing ball park. A member of the Boys and Girls Club of Rockford says the new playground is a great addition to the neighborhood.
"This community and Rockford will benefit, the young people will benefit, us as community leaders will benefit," explained Oliver Reed, Director of Violence and Gang Prevention, Boys and Girls Club of Rockford. "With us holding hands together, working together and collaborating, it really benefits all of us."
The new park is based off neighborhood feedback from more than 400 surveys. Renovations began in spring 2017. Sabrooke park is located in the 2900 block of Kishwaukee Street.
