BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Belvidere apartment complex catches fire just before 9 tonight. Residents were forced to evacuate into the snowy weather.

One apartment at the Whispering Pines complex on East Chrysler Drive in Belvidere is completely destroyed, but the other apartments weren't damaged. Firefighters are waiting for electrical engineers to arrive at the scene and help determine the cause of the fire. At this time crews believe the fire was caused by an appliance.

The Red Cross is working to relocate the resident whose apartment was damaged. No one was hurt.
