Beloit man shot in the shoulder, police arrest suspect

BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) -- A 28-year-old Beloit man is in stable condition after he was shot in the shoulder around 4 a.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue.

The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital in Janesville.

Beloit police officers set up a perimeter and cleared the home in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue.

Police arrested the suspect, 24-year-old Christopher Barker, of Beloit, without incident in the 200 block of Moore Avenue for attempted homicide and for a substantial battery warrant out of Milwaukee County.

Authorities say Barker and the victim were prior acquaintances. they believe there is no danger to the community from this incident.

The victim's name has not been released at this time.
