Beloit Crime Stoppers tip leads to child sexual assault warrant arrest

BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) - The Beloit Police Department says a 42-year-old man has been arrested on warrants including one involving the sexual assault of a child.

Raynoldo Mendez was arrested around 11 a.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of Harrison Avenue thanks to a tip given to the Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers.

The Beloit Police Department's Violent Crime Interdiction Team along with the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Mendez together.

No one was injured during the arrest, however, a U.S. Marshals Task Force member accidentally discharged a firearm in a direction that did not put anyone in danger.

Mendez was wanted for on a federal probation warrant out of Illinois and a felony warrant for a second-degree sexual assault of a child charge.

Mendez is considered innocent until proven guilty.
