ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR ) – As people continue to clean up from Wednesday’s storms, the Better Business Bureau is warning us about people who may be knocking on our doors to “help.”

They say scam artists are often quick to take advantage of people who need help repairing their homes from wind, rain, or hail and never actually provide a full service.

The BBB says we should ask for proof of licensing and bonding and get at least three quotes from contractors that insist on payments be made to the company, not an individual.

The BBB recommends visiting their website, askbbb.org, for more information.
