Apartment fire in Beloit displaces a family of four

BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) -- A Beloit family is displaced after its home caught fire early Sunday morning.

The Beloit Fire Department responded to the fire at a two-unit apartment around 3:15 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Crescent Drive. The fire was contained to the first floor and quickly extinguished.

An adult and three children who lived there must find another place to stay. The American Red Cross is helping them find housing and other necessities. The people living in the other unit were able to return to their home.

Damage is estimated to be about $6,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
