UPDATE: Vacant house fire in Rockford labeled arson

Update: Rockford Fire says the vacant home fire at 809 Bruce Street was arson.

The fire started on the outside of the first floor and damaged it, the second floor, and the attic. The house had people living in it two weeks ago, but nobody was living there at the time of the fire.

The home survived and is repairable.
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A vacant home caught fire just before 12:30 this morning at 809 Bruce St. on Rockford's northwest side. Both floors of the two story home were destroyed.

The Rockford Fire Department says the flames caused around $35,000 worth of damage.
