ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Rockford Art Museum was packed today as people came out to see the works of local high school kids.
The museum hosted its 77th high school division Young Artist Show. The exhibit received more than 1,000 works of art and is featuring 149 pieces representing 113 students from 15 area schools. Art such as paintings, prints, drawings and photography were blindly judged by out of town jurors to avoid any bias voting.
"Our jurors came in and spent the entire day sifting through the work and choosing what they felt were the strongest pieces technically and conceptually. They also chose 19 award winners while they were here, so being juried into the award show is a big deal," said Tracey Redding, Education Coordinator at Rockford Art Museum.
19 of the art pieces were awarded. You can see all 149 pieces on display at the art museum through March 31st.
