Belvidere Police looking for two armed robbery suspects

BELVIDERE, Ill (WIFR) – Around 3:20 a.m. on August 11th, 2017, the Belvidere Police Department responded to Murphy Oil USA, 2005 Gateway Center Drive, Belvidere, IL, for an Armed Robbery report.

Upon arrival, witnesses reported two masked males, 5’07”-5’09”, thin build, wearing tan colored pants and white Asics gym shoes entered the business and forced the clerk to the ground at gunpoint.

In addition to cash and merchandise, the suspects also demanded the safe to be opened. Unable to open the safe, the clerk ended up being pistol whipped by one of the suspects.

The suspects fled the scene on foot northbound from Murphy Oil USA towards Bypass Route 20. Along with merchandise, they also stole an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.
