Courtney Bunting joined the WIFR team in September 2016 as a multimedia journalist.
Courtney is originally from Carmi, Illinois but lived in Carbondale while pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Radio, Television, and Digital Media with a specialization in Electronic Journalism and minor in Public Relations from Southern Illinois University.
She became interested in public presentation after winning an award for a speech she gave at the Illinois State Fair Queen competition. Courtney enjoys writing, singing, and dancing. She has an Associate's Degree from Southeastern Illinois College where she participated in choir, played piano, served as a Student Trustee, and was on the competitive Model Illinois Government Team.
Courtney also remains involved in her sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon, for which she was a founding member and President while attending Southern Illinois University. Courtney inherited her love of writing from her mother, who taught high school Journalism and English. She knows everyone has a story to tell and loves to prove that through her reporting.
If you have any suggestions for story topics, Courtney would love to hear from you. Feel free to email her or contact her via social media.
