Briana Collins joined WIFR as a morning show producer in August 2015, later becoming an on-air reporter in June of 2016. She was named Evening Anchor April 2017.
Briana is originally from Chicago but spent some time getting her degree in Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from Spring Hill College in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a focus in Journalism. She knew she wanted to major in Journalism after writing articles for her high school paper.
In Chicago, at Holy Family School, she was an 8th grade counselor assisting students on high school options. Currently she volunteers as a mentor at Rockford KFACT where she assists at-risk teen and pre-teen girls to focus on their futures.
Growing up, Briana has always enjoyed writing and telling stories in front of an audience. While this is her first on-air position, she hopes to meet new people in Rockford and tell their stories.
While not in front of the camera, she enjoys online shopping and spending time with family. She also enjoys dancing. She’s taught and been trained in ballet, hip-hop, jazz and tap since the age of five.
She’s an active member of the National Association for Black Journalists and loves hearing your story ideas, so feel free to send her an email or reach out to her on social media!
