The owner of a brand new barbershop in Rockford is hoping you leave with a lot more than just a hair cut.

The owner of a brand new barbershop in Rockford is hoping you leave with a lot more than just a hair cut.

At first glance Frederick's Barber Shop in the 700 block of 7th street.. looks like any other haircut place, but inside there's also First Born Ministries South. It's an outreach facility aimed at helping those with drug, family or any other life problems. It's the brainstorm of David Frederick who figured the best way to reach those in the inner city was to start up a business there.

"In order to have a presence here, my wife and I are both barbers so we set up the barber shop so we could be here every day. People that are bound by alcohol or drug addiction or people that are just bound by street life, We've got a God that's big enough to deliver them. That's what we intend to do." said David Fredrick.

Frederick's barbershop hosts church on tuesday night and a dinner on Saturday nights where people in the neighborhood could come and get acquainted with the outreach.
