Representatives from the Lt. Governor's office were on hand to present the Illinois Main Street Community distriction which took 18 months to achieve.

The main street community sign unveiled today will be posted at the four entrances to the city. Other cities with the title have reported net gains of more than 1600 new downtown businesses that have created more than 6000 new full and part time jobs. The River District Association is excited to spearhead the effort...and local officials think the "main street usa feel" should resonate throughout the entire community.
