I think Governor Blagojevich should resign for the sake of Illinois. If he doesn't with the next few days, impeachment procedings should begin soon. I remember during Watergate when Hugh Scott and Barry Goldwater visited Nixon and told him he did not have the votes to avoid impeachment and then Nixon resigned. We need to have a similiar situation develop where some key state legislators visit Blagojevich and tell him to resign. - Rose

A GREAT MAN AND MENTOR

Posted by: jane Location: easthampton ma
he didnt do anything worse than the government stealing 8 billion dollars from americans so they could pay back supporters and gain favors.remember acorn?

Nine Billion dollars in the hole for the state of Illinois. But whose fault is it. I'm not a fan of our former governor but it can't be all his fault. What about the Congress of IL. How many of them have taken the monies from the over time sessions? It is all the elected officals fault for this. Anybody who was elected in the last 6 years and yes even before under Ryan. We kept hearing during Ryan's term that the State was in the black and within 6 months after he left it was in the red. Our elected officals have had 6 years to straighten this mess out and haven't. Everyone in the country has cut back the Government hasn't, as well as the CEO's that all make up the Good-Ole-boy club. We have given the government our money and they have over spent and bailed out Corporate America. We are paying more with each passing day as unemployement rises. As fewer and fewer taxpayers are paying in. This is our tax dollars at work.

Yes the taxpayers did have to pay a portion the tab because he had to have security on his trip.

i know this is probably a stupid thought but i hope like heck that while blagojevich was jetsetting to new york to plaster his face on every tv station in the country i hope we the taxpayers of illinois didnt have to foot the bill for this mini vacation before he goes to jail i hope he enjoyed his last trip as a free man

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye!!

I watched portions of one Blago's interviews and he answered the question in the typical public office way, he skirted the question and never really answered it. The little interviews that he is giving is going to also be used against him. It is no wonder his lawyers are running for cover. He reminds of the little kid that you tell not to touch the hot pan, but he just has to find out himself that it was hot. Duh!!!

Why Doesn't Gov. Blagojevich ask the citizens of Illinois what they think about his impeachment. Instead he goes to national TV shows to make a complete fool of himself. I am so sick of hearing him state "I have done nothing wrong". If that were the case then why was all of this started. I know that everyone was upset long before the charges were brought out. He is not only making a mockery of the State of Illinois Government but also the United States Government. Please step down now. Who is paying for his trip to New York and the time he is on national TV? It certainly had better not be the taxpayers of Illinois.

The recent PR game that Blago is playing by appearing on the View and Good Morning Americaand hiring a PR firm, reminds of what Zeke Giorgi used to say about the state legislature, "It is all show business." This adds another new meaning to Zeke's comments.

I don't know what our Governor is taking but he better wake up to the fact that the taxpayers of IL are tired of him and his little side show. He has cost taxpayers boat loads of money. First by commuting to Springfield, maintaining the governors mansion when he will not live in it, the over time sessions, the closing of the 7 state parks, and finally what will be the final cost of his impeachment. He is screaming that he is getting railroaded but he isn't going to be in Springfield to defend himself today. He going to air his dirty laundry on national TV today.

Why should we worry about cigarette taxes because they want to add a dollar to each pack. This is to get people to quit. Smoking is very costily to us taxpayers. That extra dollar should go to the health care system. When the government can't make any money on this then they will add taxes to gas because now we have cut back so there is not enough money to fix the bridges. The government will always figure out a way to increase taxes or as former Governor Ryan use to call them fees.

I think all elected officials forget who they work for? all the citisens. not just a select group. and hopeful the next governor will relize this and give back our personal choices? like this non smoking law. who knows the total of sales taxes lost to this? my guess would be plenty to keep the parks open and reestabish the week end meals for seniors?

Enough is enough Rod needs to be impeachd sooner than later, every minuite he stays gov. it is costing IL tax payers thousands of dollars. It can't get better till they get him out of there.and the 8 cent gas tax would not need it if the gov had not stole from us tax payers. make him pay for our roads.he probably wants the 8 cent tax so he can use it for his legal fees. He's nothing but a crook!!!! justice is not served till he's behind BARS!! SAVE ILL. IMPEACH HIM NOW PLEASE

First, he cooked his own goose when he went on the news and told the FBI to,"Go ahead tap my phones, I have nothing to hide!" That pretty much gave them consent. Second, the open road tolling was a signed contract before he came to office and put his name on it like it was all his doing. Third what really has he done for Illinois, crime is rising because unemployment is rising.

The Governor has thumbed his nose at the Illinois Congress and the tax payers. My hat is off to our Sec. of State for not signing the papers. It was reported by your TV station that Mr. Burris had contributed to the Governor's campaign fund. His lawyer is claiming no wrong doing but isn't conspiracy against the law. The writing is on the wall and yet the Governor is blind to it. Here is looking out for the taxpayers of Illinois again, special sessions for impeachment at $58,000 a day.

As a citizen of Illinois, I am very upset and embarrassed about the situation with Blago, many people including myself believed him in 2002 when he promised reform and instead of reform we got worse courruption than with Ryan. While, everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty, he should step aside until the criminal case has been resolved.

Can the governors lawyer surpress the wire taped conversations - Did the governor pay the phone bill or did the taxpayers - If that line is being paid the taxpayers, it should be public knowledge of what is said. If the governor wants to pay his own way and have his private conversation - pay for his own phone line...Then I agree that he should have the right to say whatever. But if I am paying for it he should have been working for me and not making feel like a fool to have trusted him in the first place.... I am sorry that I made a wrong choice in voting.

I think it is about time that he pays for his wrong doings. It has affected us all and our schools as well as our jobs. They always say Karma always catches up with you when you do others wrong. Well I guess his world is starting to fall apart. It is said that his whole family has to pay for his mistakes. I am glad that they are shutting him down. The state of Illinios has been through enough with this shame for our state.

I understand that Blagojevich is very hard headed, and really quite stupid to think that he will retain his job. But i don't understand how his attorney can sllep at night when he comes up with this garbage that the wire taps the FBI conducted were illegal and that the committee to impeach him cannot use them. Blago was really stupid to get caught, and then to deny any wrong doing is beyond me.

He needs to be ashamed of his self we are already having enough problems and that just goes to show you how much the upper class care.

Posted by: patricia Location: machesney park
yes, i think the governor should resign or to be impeached- he hasn't done anything for illinois but embarrass the state of illinois and for the taxpayers when they keep spending more money when they can't settle on the budget he keeps wanting to spend more money you can't keep spending money if the state is broke and we don't need a costly election

Posted by: Doug Location: Northern IL
I think the closing of the state parks in Oregon were politcial because Ogle County is not a Democratic County. Also this latest from our Governor is another example of his costing us taxpayers more money. The special sessions cost us $58,000.00 a day. In the last 2 years there have been tomany special sesssions to balance the budget, Maybe that would have kept the parks open. The Governor needs to resign to save this state from over spending and further embrassement.

LETS TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE WORLD AROUND US, GOV. BLAGO IS NO DIFFERENT AS THE REST OF THE GOVERMENT. CONGRESS,SENATE,AND YES,EVEN THE PRESIDENT! THE GREATER GOOD OF THE UNITED STATES IS BASED ON ,IS MORE CORRUPT THAN MOBSTERS, THUGS,AND THEIFS. THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HAS BEEN TARISHED BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO WERE ELECTED AND SWORN TO PROTECT, AND UPHOLD IT! SO YES, IMPEACH HIM, SEND HIM TO JAIL, AND SELL ALL HIS PORPERTY! DO TO HIM WHAT YOU WOULD DO TO ANY CRIMINAL WHO WOULD DO THIS. TO ME ITS TREASON!! AGAINST THE STATE,AND ITS PEOPLE!!

DO YOU THINK IT WILL BE HARDER FOR EX-GOV.RYAN TO GET A PARDON WITH ALL THAT'S GOING ON? I HOPE SO. HE NEEDS A CELLMATE!

Posted by: Sally Yes, I agree that Blagojewich should resign! I don't agree with Durbin to have a costly election to fill the seat. Maybe if Blagojevish is gone we can get the state parks back open! Are there any politicians around that we can really trust?

Posted by: Paul Location: Rockford
The "garbage" is the Democratic/Daley political machine that has been around as long as I have been alive; and I'm 60. Durbin and Obama are part of it, don't kid yourselves.

Posted by: Sue Location: Loves Park
I agree with prior comments that Blagojevich should resign. And if that fails, he needs to be impeached. The "garbage needs to be taken out" in every sense of the word. I'm embarrassed to be a resident of Illinois, and I'm embarrassed for the honest politicians of Illinois, especially any that may reside in "Crook County". There must be someone there who knows the meaning of the word "ethical"?
