The New Smoking Laws
The New Smoking Laws. Lets see you want to impose laws on this nasty habit but yet you want to raise taxes on cigarettes to help pay for the kids medical needs. One question. Are you crazy?  If there is any reason to stop smoking now is the time. I'll be damned if I pay taxes, For Example Only, to help cover a bunch of illegal immigrant children that Crusader Clinic harbors.  A friend experienced discrimination there about 6 years ago from an a certain group, that was a totally legit claim and these clowns still employ these people. Like I said For Example Only.  I wouldn't give any self righteous non-smoker the privilege of saying put it out. How about a 20th century ban on alcohol for the 21st century. I'm more disgusted with anyone who even sips wine than smokes a cigarette. Is Capitalism slowly turning into communism? So lets hear it all you so called voters on this ban. Explain why you will shy away from banning drinking, but are so concerned about my health that you resemble the Spanish Inquisition.
Hypocrites.

this is to james. people don't want to breathe the smoke because of the health problems they get. second hand smoke is worse than the person smoking it.it's not just because they don't like it, they don't like it beacuse of their health. why do dr. say not to smoke around your children? second hand smoke is bad for them just like it is to adults. so you should rethink what you wrote here.

Roy...when you don't smoke because of allergies to it, even in places that have smoking and non-smoking areas, the cigarette smoke still filters over to where I eat. You can choose to smoke or not to smoke, but if someone lights up, I cannot choose to breathe or not breathe. I agree that businesses should be able to run their businesses how they see fit(within the law). Is it really that difficult to go more than 10 minutes without a smoke?

I THINK THE NEW SMOKING LAW REALLY BITES!!!! SMOKERS LIKE ME AND EVERY OTHER LIVING CREATURE THESE DAYS HAS A RIGHT TO BE ABLE TO SMOKE IN CERTAIN ESTABLISHMENTS. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO HALF WAY ACROSS THE PARKING LOT TO HAVE A SMOKE! IF NON-SMOKERS FEEL THAT WAY THEN THEY HAVE A CHOICE: 1. TO STAY AND DEAL WITH. BECAUSE JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T SMOKE OTHERS SHOULDN'T BE PUNISHED JUST BECAUSE WE'RE DOING SOMETHING THAT THEY DON'T APPROVE OF! 2. PLAINLY JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! IT'S NOT THEIR CALL TO TRY AND RUN PEOPLES LIFE!!!!

Posted by: Doug Location: northern IL
This is for Bill, the 2 highest taxed items in the country is cigarettes and booze. When the government can't tax these two commondities what will they go after next bottled water?

I for one would like to thank Illinois for giving me yet one more reason NOT to spend my money here. My Wife and I are both smokers and between the two of us, we go through 2-3 packs a day (mostly in our home and cars) and now thanks to the additional laws out-lawing smoking, we have completely stopped going to ALL local establishments that we use to go for dinner or drinks or even bowling. Now I'm guessing that Illinois must be the richest state in the country since it feels that it is ok to once again trample on the rights of small business owners state-wide! Maybe Illinois is trying to become the first state with absolutely no true freedoms left, even to those hard working individuals who have spent years building their businesses. I now purchase my cigarettes else where, which even with the S&H is cheaper then buying them here and all of my money that I use to spend locally, I now spend in another state. What's next, are they going to tell me I can't watch my TV in my bedroom?

WELL i think that we all are entitled to our own opinions but did anyone ever stop to think that going 15 feet away from a door at a bar at 1 o clock in the morning to smoke the person might not only get into a fight but could get raped kidnapped killed no one ever thought of the risks these smokers would have to be taking and i agree i shouldnt have to pay taxes for someone who snuck in this country i am not raciest at all i have 2 mixed kids i dont think its fair to the legals they should have to suffer just as much as we do having to learn a new language having to look for the english version on labels i thought this was AMERICA not mexico and you should have to learn our language to live here and have to pay our taxes just like everyone else who did wait and got there green card and moved here the right way

Posted by: bill Location: rockford
why should smokers pay more taxes I DON'T SEE THEM TAXING BEER,WINE AND WHISKIE AND THERE IS MORE DANGER IN THAT IF THEY RAISE TAX ON BEER AND ETC THEY WOULD GET A LOT MORE TAX. BUT THAT WOULD NEVER BE .SO ALL THE DRUNK DRIVERS THAT ARE KILLING PEOPLE AND RUINING LIVES THE STATE SAYS THATS OK. THERE IS ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO DRINK AND I KNOW THEY WOULD BE THE FIRST TO COPLAIN IF TAX ON ALCOHOL WOULD TRIPPLE ARE GOVERMENT IN SPRINGFEILD SHOULD RE THINK AND TAX ALCOHOL LIKE THAY DO CIG. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME GIVE MY COMMENT.

Posted by: connie since cell phones are said to be more dangerous then smoking when will there be a law keeping people from using cell phones in public places because of second hand radiation.

Posted by: jo Location: RKFD
To all whom make new laws, i am a smoker and i even think that smoking should be banned in resturants and places that do over 50 percent of the establishment from food but BARS/TAVERNS drinking and smoking go hand in hand for most places that have no food served should be able to smoke. As a matter of fact if i owned a bar and payed my taxes i should be able to run it how i see fit.

New Laws Make people see who pulls the Strings Now and I think that this country is giving to much Powere to so few , and not telling We The People till the Government has done what they wanted. We just give what they want, It's about time we Make a Change in this country that may turn some Graves Inside out.

What angers me most is not just the loss of freedom, but the way it happened. The smoking ban was voted down everywhere, in every referendum put before the voters in every municipality. A majority of voters said NO BAN. So this tiny little group of commies goes to Gov. Blagovitch...and he shoves it down our throats. Noone should be happy with the new smoking laws. They are voter disenfranchisement at its finest.

Posted by: jim Location: rockford
Iwas really surprised this law took effect before the Closing of Bars and any place you DRIVE to.. to drink.. We all know Smoking ,Drinking isnot the best for you But we also know DRUNK drivers KILL more people per year than second hand smoke by the 1000s. This law is about the peoples health, right! Give it time the Bars WILL be shut down. Unless you walk!Big brother is working on it now

Posted by: Connie Location: Davis.IL
i again feel the need to comment to non- smokers who insist that smokers need to smoke outside because second hand smoke kills. well, guess what? pnuemonia kills too. so can the flu..so those of you who think your rights are more important than mine.. you need to remember the next time you go to a restaurant or belly up to a bar, that maybe i was in there with the beginning symptoms of a cold or pnuemonia or the flu. and possibly i am the one who will wait on you. and maybe while i was outside smoking i sneezed or coughed in my hand and forgot to wash my hands before i touched my chair to pull it out to sit down, or before i reached for the salt and pepper shakers at my table, or brought you your order, or served your drink at the bar. i think you get my point..smoking and non-smoking sections might not be such a bad idea after all.. cause germs can kill too!! enjoy your evening out!!!

Posted by: Nikki Location: Machesney Park
Wow! I have a comment for Rocky in Belvidere. You say anyone who smokes in front of children should lose rights to their child? Thats ignorant.Just because someone smokes in front of their children does not mean they should lose rights to their child, how dumb! That is like saying anyone who swears, eats big macs, bites their nails or snores should lose rights to their children, they are all bad habits and we are all guilty of atleast one of them!

Posted by: Nichole Location: Machesney Park
I am 24 years old and I started smokeing when I was 19. I am ready to quit so it doesnt really matter to me if I have to smoke outside. Maybe this will be my first step to get on another path but, then again I might just start eating more and end up getting diabetes and be unhealthy all over again! So, do I want diabetes or cancer? Hard choice to make. My uncle is a doctor and he says he sees alot more cases of over weight people getting diabetes than peole who have smoked for many years getting emphazema.

The new smoking ban is fabulous. Allowing a 'smoking' and 'non-smoking' section is just stupid. It's a discusting habit... and placing it in a different part of the room doesn't help... non-smokers still suffer the effects. It would be like placing all the crying babies in one half of the restaurant... you would still hear them from the other side. I love going out to bars and not having to air out all of my clothes the next morning!

Posted by: steve Location: rockford
They should have created smoking and non-smoking bars, if there's this huge number of non-smokers who want to go bar hopping. Mandating better air filtration would have been fair. If I stop after work for a beer, I'll do without a cigarette. When we go out on the weekend, I'll head for Wisconsin. We can relax, enjoy our meal and then go dancing, without the hassle of going outside to smoke. I bet there's some fights locally when someone goes outside for a ciggie and then comes back in and finds their seat taken.

Posted by: Josie Location: Dixon
Let there be air! finally we can all brethe, and people need to respect this law and the people around them,

Posted by: Lost A Loved One Location: Dixon
I dont understand why the lawmakers are not banning sales of Alcohol in every convenience store, gas station, local supermarket and even pharmacy .I feel more disgusted by the person in front of me in line stocking up on beer or other liquors knowing that there is a good chance they will pop the top and maybe kill your family member like they did mine. The smokers atleast show some respect by not blowing smoke in my face, the drinkers behind the wheel werent able to show the respect to the Van full of children returning home with A Mom driving.I would rather have my loved one here breathing second hand smoke and knowing I would still have him for 30 or 40 more years than have his life taken from him at a young age because our society allowed this driver to stop every few miles to restock his supply.I dont like smoking either but a smoker didnt take my family by lighting up a cigarette & in my town the seasonal burning and legal fire pits are like smoking atleast a carton a day!

Posted by: dwayne Location: rockford il
well i think for the non smokers it,s great for them but i am a smoker and i work outdoors alond with all of my other fellow employes what difference does it make if your outside we are outraged what is going to catch on fire at a recycling center in rockford its such a stupid law anyway pissed off in rockford

Posted by: Anonymous The reason for the ban is PUBLIC health. If you CHOOSE an unhealthy habit, fine. This measure doesn't allow you to make others unhealthy too. Secondhand smoke has been proven MORE lethal than the crap you choose to inhale, why should anyone have to be subjected to that on the account of your poor choice?

Posted by: gofe Location: south beloit
Attention all smokers: please read the comments posted by "geesh". This is what I am talking about, respect for people around you. If all smokers had this attitude this ban would not have been necessary. Just keep thinking in your self righteous minds that you can do what ever you want because it is your right. That doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. Respect people; respect. Try this respect concept for everyday living, it works.

Posted by: gofe Location: south beloit
i just read through all of the comments; interesting. I am a non smoker, my father smoked for years and now has emphazema; not fun. Smoking used to be glamorous everyone did it and got hooked. During that time a huge business grew that supplied jobs for many. Bottom line everything revolves around money this subject is no different. People have gotten smarter, studies have been done, relatives have died. Times change, circumstances change but unfortunately you can't please everyone. It all comes down to respect and respect for people around you. Restaurants had non smoking sections because smelling smoke while you eat is very annoying and unappetizing or maybe the restaruants created smoking areas so you smokers were'nt annoyed by us non smokers for eating too much. Come on put them down for an hour while you eat. As far as bars go knock yourself out if you must. I challenge any smoker to say with a straight face that their habit is not a health threat, annoying and smelly.

YOU have to have BOTH GENE`S IN YOUR BODY TO GET CANCER !

Posted by: Jen Location: Rockford
I think this smoking ban is more about control than health anymore. I've stood outside and smoked at bars or wherever, and there are you non-smokers who still walk by and give the dirty looks and rude comments. I've been standing by my car in an empty parking lot, a car will pull up right beside me knowing that I'm there smoking and they walk by and roll their eyes, when they had the whole parking lot to park in. This ban will never stop smokers from smoking, so get over it, and another thing I understand no smoking in restaurants but bars? drinking and smoking go hand in hand, you know bars have smoking, you dont like it..stay home and drink..Geeez, it's getting crazy.

Posted by: Bartender Location: Pathetic Il
Who cares about Florida, this is IL. Florida don't have sub below temps, and for the other comment made as far as the bars closing up. What should it matter to you then what goes on in them if you wanted them to be closed anyway. Obviously you don't go into them so it is none of your concern as to if they are smoking or non smoking then. But did any of you know that the bars are one of the biggest contributors to paying taxes so you don't have to pay them? Bet you didn't know that. So what happens when them bars are no longer around to pay them taxes? They go to some other resort to make up the difference they have lost. Guess who it is that will be paying them? YOU, yes YOU. They will raise the taxes on everything else and you in the end will pay more. You all vote for the non smoking but half of you dont go into a bar, or you say I don't want to go in cause I don't want my children breating the smoke. Well SHAME ON YOU, no kid belongs in a bar.

Posted by: citizen Location: rockford
Florida is a smoke free state and did they raise taxes to suppliment the loss? Wait they have no state income taxes! And I can tell you that they don't pay 7-9.5% sales tax either. The smoking ban is a done deal - figure out how to deal with the change and prosper or don't - your choice.

Posted by: gary Location: rockford
WAY TO GO BARTENDER, rockford has been wanting to close up the bars since the 70s. I REMEMBER zeke georgi TELLING ME THAT BACK THEN.

Posted by: Bartender Location: Pathetic Il
To you Mr. Doug. I did not say if you can read, in anyway that non- smokers don't go into bars. What I said is that there is not enough of you to support the bar business. So get ready for your taxes to go up , because I can guarantee that you will see alot close up doors. Then lets see how well you feel about the non smoking law. And besides no one ever said you had to go in when it was smoking, go to Applebees or some other place that is non smoking if you don't like it.

Posted by: gary Location: rockford
WOW, what a comeback Doug ! Bet you had to think of that one long and hard ! There`s no talking to people like you. You know everything. People like you are like the aldermen we have. They say we will tell you what you need and dont need and what is good for you and not.

Posted by: Doug Location: northern IL
Hey bartender are you saying that only smokers go to bars. Give me a break.

Posted by: Bartender Location: Pathetic Ill.
All of you Non- Smokers need to take a look at what you are doing to the economy. I am a bartender and since this ban has went into effect my sales have dropped greatly. There just is not enough of you to support establishments like bars. Also for a smaller bar that has only one bartender on at a time, puts that bartender at risk for robbery or several other crimes, we now have to leave the bar unattended and go 15 feet from the entrance. this sets us up for robbery, sexualy crimes, fights while bar is unattended. I have the right as much as anyone else to have the state required breaks and do as I wish on my breaks as you would. Tell me how this new law helps fight death. To me as anyone else that tends bar for a living knows what I am saying is the truth and most will agree 100%. So for you I have to endanger myself, just so you don't have to breath my smoke at a bar that most of you will never go to nor was your arm ever twisted to step into if you did.

Posted by: Terry Location: Winnebago
There's not a ban against smoking just a ban against PUBLIC smoking were it can effect people who did not choose to inhale carcinogenics. Why not wine? Although that too may be considered a vice it only affects the person drinking and doesn't directly cause health issues to the innocent bystander. So if there is a ban why raise taxes cause some will quit and they'll need to increase revenue from the taxes to offsets the loss from those who quit. Why should smokers pay more taxes? Statistics show that they have higher health issues and cost of care - you play you pay philosophy. I have allergies and just walking through a smoke filled room it's a given I will end up with a sinus infection so because a smoker wants to light up anywhere I can not go anywhere. Do what you want to your own body that is not anyone elses business but when your activity causes others to alter their life then it becomes a public issue. Why not ban ciggaretts all together? Prohibition proved that won't work.

Posted by: Kyle Location: Rockford
So, to follow up RICHARD, the government should only have jurisdiction over public property with regards to criminal justice and human rights? The government should not be able to, for instance, prosecute murders that occur in residences where murder is declared acceptable by the owner and people enter voluntarily with this knowledge?

Posted by: Kyle Location: Rockford
You contradict yourself PAUL. I am "VERY confused," you stated, in response to me saying we live in a free country. But it is you, here in a city protected by laws, obviously sitting in front of a computer (most likely in a warm home) with electricity to power your PC - but yet you do not enjoy freedom. You need to look up the history of FREEDOM and see what it was like for people in past societies. For that matter, check out some of the various countries of the contemporary world - and get back to me about your luxurious freedoms you take for granted everyday. NOW, do the rich control this country? YES, I agree 100%. Could you be rich, yes. That is the opportunity this country gives you. It is not easy, nor fare when compared to those who so easily obtain wealth, but at least you have the opportunity. Enjoy your free country, accept that it is not perfect, and work to make it better.

Posted by: Doug Location: Northern IL
No, Paul I was pointing out that my mother who was a smoker had cancer and I did not say that it was from second hand smoke. I was just stating a fact that smoking kills, and for you info Paul I also smoked at one time and this has given me a good reason not to pick up another cancer stick. My family and I now enjoy going to places where we don't come out smelling like exhaust pipes.

Posted by: Richard Fitzwell I get so amused by these pseudo-communists that believe that businesses are public. I have two words for all of you "PRIVATE PROPERTY", and for all of you people who think "oh , great; now i can take my kids to the bar, and they don't have to breath smoke" shame on you for taking your kids to a bar to begin with. Now THERE is something that should be illegal.

Posted by: Bill Hicks Location: Heaven
i hate to bring this up and burst your bubble, I know you non-smokers entertain some type of eternal life fantasy, but i have news for you , non-smokers die every day too.

Posted by: Paul Location: Rockford
Kyle and Doug those are some of the most uninformed and unintelligent comments I have EVER read. First off, you can't blame your mom's cancer on second hand smoke when SHE was a smoker, this is like someone who is obese saying you get fat from working at a fast food restaurant, not from shoveling burgers in your mouth. and Kyle , if you beleieve we live in a "Free country" You are VERY confused, If you have MONEY in this country , You aree free, if you are poor, you are at the mercy of the rich.

Posted by: Kyle Location: Rockford
You are free to smoke where you will not harm others. Fact of the matter is, smoking in public causes a HEALTH HAZARD to those around you. So, smoke away and enjoy your free country - but make sure it is only where you cannot harm others. You are free to own a gun here too, but I think it is frowned upon to take your side shooter and put it to rest on the dinner table at Outback steakhouse.

Posted by: Doug Location: noerthern IL
While all you smokers complain about not being allowed to smoke remember this. My mother, yes she smoked but has been smoke free for almost 20 years was owner of a tavern for about twenty years and worked in others for years, now she has been given about six months to live, lung cancer. So smokers remember this, your smoking does affect others.

Posted by: Linda Location: Rockford
Free Country?? I doubt that, I think we are being discriminated against. I bet the governor doesn't get elected for his next term. This is so ridiculous. It is hurting businesses and people are angry. I know a lot of non smokers that don't believe in this smoking ban either,. Why didn't we as citizens have the right to vote on this subject? The governor has made this a less attractive city for people to look at for settling in. Many business owners are trying to figure out alternatives for there customers.

Posted by: Paul Location: Rockford
The ban on smoking is unconstitutional on the grounds that it requires business owners to adapt their private property to suit the use of clientel that may not be wanted in the establishment. Bars and restaurants are private property and therefor reserve the right to refuese service to anyone, including non-smokers or those who may chose to inform officials of smoking that may be happening at that privately owned establishment. The bottom line is this, If you don't want to be in a smoking establishment, especially a bar; noone is forcing you to go in there.

Posted by: Happy Location: Shannon
FINALLY!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad we non-smokers will not be forced to smoke along with the smokers. Every time you smoke we are FORCED to breathe your smoke - we don't force you to eat what we are eating so this evens up the playing field for us. My Dad and Mother-in-law both died from emphysema (my Mother-in-law never was able to stop smoking even though she was on oxygen 24 hours a day). If you choose to slowly kill yourself that's your business, but I want no part of that and with the smoking ban that makes my life much better and much healthier. You don't like it, well now you'll find out what it's been like for we non-smokers. Maybe this is the push you needed to kick this dangerous, life threatening habit and if it is I pray it works for you!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN QUIT and you'll be amazed at how fast you'll feel better and save a LOT of money now and save yourself a life of the Horrible Torture of not being able to breathe. If you think emphysema can't happen to you think again!

Posted by: me not you Location: Machesney Park
In my opinion this smoking ban is just another joke of a law that a room full of idiots made up just to impose power over the working class. These laws that they are imposing on us are just to prove that we nolonger live in the land of the free but a land of idiotic laws. have a nice day

Posted by: fred Location: mount morris
its about time !

Posted by: Viper Location: Rockford
First of all YES I am a smoker. Now that that's settled, answer me this. If smoking is so bad for you and everyone else around why don't they just ban smoking outright and kill off the industry?. Because Uncle Sam makes too much money on it. If they really wanted to be fair about it then they would have said a percentage of establishments must be non-smoking then the non-smokers would have some place to go. As far as the tax dollars generated Uncle Sam is very resourcful, they will just come up with another law that is "for your own good" that they can fine you for. Give it a rest when are we going to realize that our freedoms are being taken away just like a Lobster cooking, after it's too late.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Beloit
I've already seen firsthand that this new law isn't being enforced. Macktown Lounge in South Beloit is allowing their patrons to smoke as long as someone doesn't complain/call the police about it. The bartenders are even doing it. If you don't have support from the employees, what chance is there? Sad but true...I don't think this new law will make a huge difference in this nasty habit. People will get away with whatever you let them.

SMOKERS! If you don't like it you don't have to come here anymore! I'm a nonsmoker and I have heard this statement a million times. The shoe is on the other foot so get use to it.Some communities are talking of Laws banning smoking anywhere in public. That includes anywhere outside the bar or eatery.Even as SMOKERS drive their windows will have to be up or they will get fined.I grew up in a home of smokers.I loved my parents and there both dead now.One from Lung Cancer and the other from Heart Decease caused from decades of smoking. And they smoked on top of there own children. Now my chances of cancer are much greater.Smokers are addicts. Nothing is more important to a smoker than "smoking".NOT even their own "children".Have you ever seen a smoker go anywhere without making sure he has enough smokes.Anyone that smokes in the presence of a child should lose their rights to that child. Smokers that complain about their rights are talking through their addiction like any good Junky does!

Posted by: J Location: Rockford
i do agree with the non smoking idea in restaurants but common soon you wont even beable to smoke in the presence of ur own home... how many people smoke in bars while they drink even if they aren't even smokers..... i think this is silly.

Posted by: imstillalive Location: Rochelle
The violation & fine only affects the person smoking. If the bar owners do not smoke then they will not get fined. In the Violations Section where the fines are laid out (Section 45), there is no fine for the owners that don't post the no smoking signs or remove the ashtrays (Section 20) The fines only refer to Section 15 which is no smoking. From this I would conclude that the bar's do not have to post signs and that their only obligation is to give the patrons some kind of verbal warning that smoking in public places is against the law. The law does say to post the signs and remove the ashtrays, but there is no fine imposed if they don't.

Posted by: mike king Location: rockford
how come we cant smoke in public but we can still buy them in BARS,AND PUBLIC PLACES. LIKE THE SMOKE SHOP. I.G.A.,LOLIE. WHEN ARE GOIMG TO START HELPPING,REALY.HELP FOLKS TO QUIT.LIKE THE PACH, PILLS, HIPMATIZEING.WELL HERE IS SMOKE IN YOUR EYES.......

Posted by: Can't Wait Location: Rockford
I can't wait for the smoking ban to go into effect because then I will once again be able to go to bars and restaurants that currently permit smoking. Even if the establishment has a smoking section, you can still smell the smoke, and it totally ruins a meal. Plus, second-hand smoke causes cancer, allergies and sinus trouble for many people, including myself. The smoking ban will expand considerably the number of places that I (and others)will be able to seek employment. I also absolutely believe that the smoking ban will increase business for these establishments, because smokers can always go outside to smoke, but non-smokers who can't tolerate smoke for various reasons can't always go inside. I am an ex-smoker, so I do have some compassion for those who smoke. It took me 5 tries to quit, but I finally did. It's not easy. If you smoke, please don't give up in your attempts to quit. It will save you and your loved ones many health problems and a load of money! Good luck in 2008!

Posted by: Cindy Location: Freeport
I am a non-smoker. I think the ban on smoking is silly. I too agree, where will the money come from that we now get from the taxes. I would rather eat in a restaurant that has a smoking section than close to some one that has way too much cologne on. Let's ban cologne too. Oh, and let's not forget crying babies. I go to a restaurant to get away from my kids. I don't go there to put up with some one else's. If you can't afford a babysitter, stay home. It is very easy to go on an on with all this nonsense. Let the smokers have their smoking section. They pay taxes too. Infact, they pay more taxes than the non-smokers do.

Posted by: Peg Location: Rockford
That's something I don't get either. The taxes on cigarettes!? The government is passing this smoking ban law yet keep raising taxes on cigarettes. Where are they going to get all that tax money when they're are trying to force people to quit? Has the government thought of that? I agree, smoking is unhealthy blah, blah, blah, however the more people who quit smoking - the less tax will be collected and it will end up coming out of EVERYONE'S pockets some other way in the end. So ends the so-called "sin tax". How many millions (billions?) of dollars are collected thru cigarettes and alcohol?? ANYBODY???

Posted by: Anonymous TO the smokers: I am very happy that the smoking ban will soon take effect... you will no longer be killing us non smokers and all you have to do to smoke is GO OUTSIDE!

Posted by: tacoloco Oh poor you, why don't you just move to a state that doesn't ban smoking and you will be happy ! Why make racist remarks ? All races receive medical care at Crusader Clinic. Why discriminate ? Grow up ! Go smoke a cancer stick !
