State Wants Schools To Go "Green," But Who Is Footing The Bill?
I'm wondering what people are thinking about the State wanting to go "Green Solution". As they are getting ready to do at Lincoln Tomb in Springfield with Geothermal heat and cooling. The State is telling all schools that they must adopt and create a policy for their cleaning supplies. The State has created a Database of Green Solution Vendors that school may use, if they choose to use these vendors they have nothing to do. But if they choose not to use these vendors then they have to create a policy showing all materials used and that they are Green Solution (a little green seal). I have found out that to get into this Database you have to pay a fee and another fee to maintain your status. Now who do you think will be picking up the tab for the fees? These Companies are not just going to eat this cost, they will pass it on to the customer (the Schools) which taxpayers are supporting with our real estate taxes. I have read the latest draft of this proposed Green Solution and some of it is quite funny, you can tell that the people writing this haven't worked in a school cleaning it.

They(the schools)need to put their energy where it is needed. There are too many programs out there for the "gifted." What about those who are not. All they have is after school study. There is no one around to the students on their studies. We need the schools to do something to bring our students to a level where they can be proud of themselves. The biggest problem these kids now have is lack of self confidents. Let's help them by bringing up their grades. How about other students help toturing, or college students. Set up something with college students who want to be teachers. Let's not go green till our students go gold with pride of their accomplishments.

The Green Solution includes paper towels, toilet paper, vacuum cleaners, buffers, and floor wax that lasts for 3 years with no maintenance,(where ever that is I want it). It also says in the draft that we have to classify disinfectant as a pesticide because it KILLS GERMS, isn't that what a disinfectant is suppose to do. This is like everything else the State does they don't talk to the people who do the jobs for any input. I wonder who they talk to, maybe the Companies who stand to gain the most.
