Smoking Laws, but no Bad Food Laws?
I can't understand why the government allows people to buy and consume food that is bad for you. They will allow everyone to eat that stuff and complain about that it causes this and that but you can't smoke in a bar? Who voted on this smoking ban anyhow?  The government is slowly just taking our rights away one at a time. Home of the free is a thing of the past. You can't even go to school anymore unless you fight your way through. I just love how our government just makes the decisions for us, we aren't even asked to vote on this stuff.  Did you vote on this issue? Who makes these laws????

we voted on this law. just like some other people has said. other people can breathe in the second hand smoke but eating bad foods doesn't effect the people around them. i use to smoke but i quit. smoking is bad for your health and second hand smoke is even worse for your health. that is why THE PEOPLE VOTED on the law. THE GOVERNMENT DIDN'T MAKE THE LAW. so don't blame them.people don't want to work in a place that breathes in smoke all day. second hand smoke causes more health problems then the people smoking them. that is your choice to smoke them WE VOTED so non smokers couldn't get health problems from the smokers.

So did my family JR sence the 1700`s, so we are brothers in arms. Lets see that ballot you were talking about. And you as a vet should know better then to take another person rights. I have know hard feelings against you what so ever !!!!! Thats not what we fought for, Right ?

Posted by: JR Location: rockford
Well, Gary for your information, I am a vet as well, alone with my brothers, my father, grandfather and uncles. So you don't have to preach to me about fighting for freedom. And no I don't come up with stupid laws.

i agree this is suppost to be a free country ,and yes are rights are gone.i dont see anyone worring about the drunks that kill are kids or are familys, they still go to the bar and drive drunk.and i also think if we dont have rights why is it we have to pay taxes.let the non smokers pay them because they still have ther rights.i think it should be up tp the owners to say if there places are smoking or non smoking and if a non smoker dosent want to go there thats there right but if a smoker does thats there right.this country is going to the dogs you work all your life for something and it taken from you in a minute.

JR there was just local advisory refernda, never a binding statewide referndum vote on it ! I got ahold of WIFR TV and they told me that. Seem`s to me that your one of those people who like to come up with laws like no spanking ur kids or seatbelt laws or you cant do this or that laws. Im a vet and us vets fought for freedom, some died for that ! Or have you forgotton that ? Sorry that all of us cant live in your perfict world. But I guess we had to fight for you too !

Posted by: JR Location: rockford
Well Gary, I will be more than happy to get a ballot and show you. I don't lead a sorry life. I am entitled to my opinion just like everyone else. I might not respect your opinion, but thats life. So if you would like to see a ballot let me know and I will be more than happy to get one.

Posted by: gary Location: rockford
HEY JR. Where you from the land of NOD ? What do you mean people voted on the no smoking law. There was no vote on any ballot for that ! Maybe you just make things up in your head like the rest of these so called lawmakers. You must lead a sorry life if you have to worry about other people want to do.

I don't smoke. And for those who do, that is your choice. What I am tired of hearing is how the Government put this law into effect. WE AS THE PUBLIC VOTED FOR THIS LAW. So if you think it is that bed then why did YOU VOTE for it.

First thing I'm a smoker, I don't have a problem with not being able to smoke in a restaurant, my hushand and I go out to eat and have ate in places that are already smoke-free, but when people start to tell me where I can and can't smoke that makes me mad, this is my only vice, I don't tell people where you can have a drink, and stay away from places where people are getting drunk. As a non-drnker I would like to see them put into law that you can only have 2 drinks at a bar and than if you want more you have to buy it and bring it home, how about a law like that, that is what you are telling, that is what you did to me, now the only place that I can enjoy my only vice is at home. So all of us smokers will quit and all the money from the taxes that we pay to buy the cigarettes that we smoke you will have to pay some way or another, everything will go up and you non smokers will have to pay them so now how do you like your law

I dont like the fact that there cant be a smokers only place, I think it is wrong not to let the smokers have a place to go, The non-smokers have places to go They should let smokers have a place too. You know a place for only smokers can work and not worry about getting people sick. how come there cant be a place like that? I will never stop smoking and it is not fair not to make a place for smokers only

Well Peg, If you don't like the screaming kids then don't go into the restaurants!!!

Posted by: tony Location: rfd
why are we playing with this,, lets just ban smokeing all togeather? cant do that to much money involved... all the law makers have there hands in the till... but what is going to happen to all the money they have aloted from smokeing when more and more quit because the only place left to smoke is home... will they come after something you enjoy next, to tax the snot out of ? you better beleave it... so think about that thing you enjoy doing and ask yourself will you enjoy doing it after there is a 200% tax on it and you are restrected to doing it in a local dictated by some one who dont like it... as for eating well if you dont like smoke around when ya eat go some were else ..lots of places had smokeing bans without a law. let your money do the talking ... you dont have a right to a smoke free restaurant but you do have a right to walk out of one that isnt

If People don't like the way a restaurant or bar smells, why do they go there?? I want a "No Kids" law! No kids under age of 18 in a restaurant after 8:30! I go out late on a Friday to chill out from a rough week and there's tons of screaming, overtired little kids in the restaurants! WHY??? They should be in bed by then! Either make it a law or make a "NO KIDS" section in restaurants!

Posted by: JR Location: rockford
I voted on the smoking ban. That is the best thing i have voted on in a long time. Eating bad food only affects the person eating it, not all the people around the person. Smoking on the other hand does. I don't want to be around people smoking. The government didn't make this decision, the people who voted did.

Posted by: tweety Smoking is a nasty, dirty habit. Who wants to walk into or out of a restaurant and smell like smoke !!! Who wants to eat food in a restaurant in a smoking environment ? Not me ! If u can't control your vice then stay home and smoke at home !
