Dividend Reinvestment Plans
I always wanted to invest but I never had the money. Savings accounts never paid much and even bank CDs pay a little more, but have you checked the projected income that you'll need when you retire? You'll need to save quite a bit. Then I heard about Dividend Reinvestment Plans. Companies set these up for their employees then offer the same investing option to the public. You can usually start investing with a small amount and then make voluntary purchases for as little as $10 each time. The best part is, most plans let you buy with no brokerage fee. My favorite plan is ExxonMobil. My initial investment was $250 and I can make purchases as small as $50. I've had this account for 11 years and it has given me an annual return of 27.5%. You won't find that kind of return on your savings account.
