How do I get the coupons for the converter box?

DTV converter box applications and coupons won’t be available until after the first of the year. At this time the National Telecommunications and Information Administration hasn’t released information on how to apply for the coupons. At a recent meeting with the National Association of Broadcasters we learned that coupons will not be distributed until area stores have stocked the converter boxes. This could be as late as March or April.

When information on how to apply for these coupons is distributed we will broadcast the information during 23 News and commercial announcements on 23 WIFR and 23 WeatherNow. The information will also be posted on wifr.com.

Converter boxes are only needed if you receive our signal over the air and if you don’t have a TV set with a digital tuner. If you receive our signal through a cable company or satellite service you have nothing to worry about.

I would like to appy two (2) converter boxes, and when will receive them?

Nell, After the coupon this will only cost you about 10 dollars. I set one up for someone the other day and they were able to receive 19 FREE over the air channels. Fred, you will need a converter box for each TV.

I have gone to the web site twice since Jan. 1st to get info about coupons and where to buy the converters. The first time, the links didn't work, it came up with messages saying that the info would be posted soon. I went yesterday and tried to find out where to purchase the boxes and again this link gave me no info. Since the coupons are only good for 90 days the government is making really rough on us to purchase the boxes. When they finally list where we can purchase the boxes maybe there will be a shortage of them when everyone goes at the same time to buy them. Maybe it is going to be like the makers of Wii keep the shortage going so that you can keep the price up by not making enough.
