The C.C. Sabathia sweepstakes or over and the Brewers came out big winners. With Sabathia joining All-Star right-hander Ben Sheets and talented lefty Manny Parra, the Brewers not only are clearly going for it all this year, they suddenly have three strong starters to pull it off. This puts the pressure squarely on the Cubs, who have 10 games remaining with Milwaukee beginning with four at Miller Park in later this month. I think the Cubs now have to pick up a strong starter of their own, possibly A.J. Burnett or Rich Harden.
Now that Sabathia is out of Cleveland, the White Sox can breathe a little easier. Chicago has to play the Sabathia-less Indians 6 more times, and they are all in the last month and by that time the Indians should be well out of any pennant race.

C.C. was definitely the belle of the trade deadline ball, so kudos to the Brewers for doing all they can to make the playoffs for the first time since 1982. The Cubs will certainly have to prepare to face him, but probably only 2 or 3 times. Sabathia will give the Brewers a chance to win everytime he starts, whether or not it's against the Cubs, and those games are what might let Milwaukee catch the Cubs.
As for the White Sox, good riddance C.C. It's possible that he return to the American League next season, but for 2008 at least, that's one less former Cy Young winner to worry about.
