(AP) -- Tiger Woods has apologized for having affairs and says he is unsure when he will return to competitive golf.

Woods spoke for more than 13 minutes Friday from the clubhouse at the TPC Sawgrass, home of the PGA Tour. About 40 people were in the room, including his mother. His wife was not obviously present.

Woods said he is solely responsible for his actions and was in treatment for 45 days. He said he will return for more therapy. He also insists there were no instances of domestic abuse in his marriage.

The world's No. 1 golfer had not talked in public since his traffic accident Nov. 27 triggered shocking revelations about Woods' infidelity.

Friday's event was tightly controlled, with only a few journalists allowed to watch Woods live.

Woods was dressed in a suit with an open collar shirt. There were no visible marks on him.

This is between Tiger and his wife and he owes no one an explanation but her. The media needs to butt out of his personal life and let him and his wife deal with thier personal business.

I personally believe Tiger has been railroaded by the press. Consider the actions of other sports stars connected with drugs, gambling, cheating, and murder. At least Tigers problems were normal for a guy of his caliber. He likes women. So what. Though I cannot condone cheating on his spouse it seems that should be between the two of them. The rest is graphic parisites out for what they can get. Why even allow press time for garbage. Work out the marital problems if that's what they chose to do. Leave the public out of it. Sponsers will return as soon as Tiger has another great year which will no doubt happen sooner than most believe. Good luck and thanks for being the MAN you are. You will always be a great image for the younger set.

I agree with Mike, who cares. It is just media hype. It will sell a lot of the trash and gossip magazines. But if he wasn't a celebrity know one would care.
