Northern Illinois University Police continue to investigate a shooting that happened on campus early Friday morning.
It happened in front of the stairwell at North Stevenson Towers. One NIU student was injured in the shooting and transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
NIU Public Safety officials say that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident between two people. The alleged gunman is in police custody.
NIU sent out a text message alert around 4:10 this morning informing students about the shooting.
NIU officials advise all students to take extra precaution and to be alert for any unusual circumstances.
NIU Campus Safety & Security issues an "all clear" on campus. Lockdown at Stevenson Hall has been lifted and the assailant remains in custody.
There will be a press briefing this morning at 9:30 a.m. at Altgeld Hall Auditorium on NIU's campus.

    "LET IT GO" It should be treated no different than a fight at a bar with a shooting. It was between these two persons. It does not deserve the entire news media attention it is getting.
