As for the Freeport State of the City address, I think the citizen's should have a State of the City address to talk about all the problems George Gaulrapp has brought to Freeport. We need a Mayor like Larry Morrissey.

This is for Sis. These 3 people were breaking the law. If they had not been there and at home that 14 year old would still be alive. When you break the law and get caught you must be willing to pay the price and it is too bad that he paid with his life.

Posted by: Betty Looks like the contest at 5-6-and 10 is not going so good. Maybe that is not enough time to call back, because some people are just getting home. I think you may need to rethink this one!

I keep hearing different stories, both current and historical, about different groups not being represented in the government on both local and national levels. Well the one group that is REALLY not represented is the poor people of this country. What does some one born to a wealthy family, who has not ever had to live from one pay check to the next, know about being the back bone of this country? I say it's high time that we fire all the rich wealthy politicians and go back to what it was always suppose to be, a government of the people, for the people, by the people. Just a thought, but it's one we should all think about. The poor are the true majority in this country and shouldn't that be the people with the strongest vote in a democratic society?

I feel sorry for the large car dealership that would sell a car to a teacher who is single and has defective tires on it as well as a spare that is trashed. Your Service manger is a low life who would accuse this lady of switching tires. When someone buys a used car 90 days ago. When this car was brought in to repair a bad tail light and this lady waited for a long period of time for you to change a bulb. Maybe the switching was done by one of your service people. My opinion hasn't changed about this dealership. In my 20 plus years of driving I always have heard negative comments about you, and now I know first hand because you took advantage of this teacher. The right thing to do would have been to replace these tires at you cost and not intimidate this woman just because she was a woman.

My comment is about the Mayor in Chicago and his city ban on hand guns. He should look more closely at the results of this ban. There are more shootings now then ever before. Guess it didn't work. They cry more gun laws but really all they need to do is enforce the ones that are already on the books. Just because they pass more doesn't mean the crimminals are going to obey them. DUH.... that is why they are crimminals! My husband and I are avid hunters and we own several guns and hand guns, we are law obiding people and I am proud to say have never shot anyone. A gun can not hurt you, only a bad person with a gun can use it as a tool to hurt you. I say no more gun laws, just put the bad people where they belong. More gang control is what is really needed.

Do you think that our Representatives in Springfield want the taxpayers to have the power to recall. That would mean that they would have to actually do what they are being told, instead of promising the world and doing what they want. The taxpayers in this state need to tell their Represntatives that we are tried of them not looking out for our interests. How much did it actually cost the taxpayer for their over time section last year on the budget? That may have helped take care of some the things this year that the Governor wants to cut funding for mainly schools and ag.

Why was the vandalism at Belvidere North High School by Belvidere High School seniors kept so HUSH?

this is about the home invasion, and the death of the poor Castle boy. If he had parents that took care of him, and cared for him, he wouldnt be dead now. Look into his fathers background. He was arrested days after for having a stolen ATV. He didnt care for or about his children. He shouldnt be allowed to own animals, let alone raise children. His background should be checked, and he should be arrested for letting his 14 yr.old son run around without any supervision. Yes Travis was into horses, look and see how Castel takes care of those horses, and youll see how poorly he took care of his family. He should be arrested. There is a big story there and the city should know about it. He is an awful human being and Im suprised that one of his children hasnt been in trouble before now.

I feel you should interview every body, it seems that the only people that were interviewed were afro american. Not everyone aggrees that he is doing good at Jeffererson, I for one think he is very predijudice towards the white students.

Broadcast your telethons for charity in a time slot other than during the prime time shows. Telethons are boring. We all miss the first new episode of Criminal Minds last night. BOO too WIFR

Posted by: Doug Location: Northern IL
I set my DVR to record Criminal Minds. I got the first 26 minutes of it and then my screen went blank for 45 min. what happened last night?

Posted by: Vicky Location: Winnebago
I don't appriciate missing the new criminal minds when you could run this salvation army crap on a saturday instead of paid programming or during reruns NOT NEW SHOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I am not the only one that is very upset by this. I am a loyal CBS viewer and wish I could get another CBS affiliate this is not the first time you pulled this. Just thought you should know that I do not think the salvation army is a bad cause it is your timing that has me very upset.

I just wanted to tell Mark that it wasn't a nice April fools joke about a winter storm watch

I have an idea where they can put the horses. The governor doesn't use the resident that the taxpayers provide for him. Let's put the extra horses there since there is no processing plant for old, sick horses.

I am afraid to tell anyone I live in Rockford because they will shy away from me.

Isn't internet marketing all about generating as much traffic as possible and converting this traffic into signups and sales? I know it is... that's why I concentrate on getting as much free traffic to my website as possible. Here is one great source that has helped me a lot. http://www.easy-viral-traffic.com/members.php

Posted by: Sheila I felt sorry for Hillary Clinton when her husband/president had an affair and she chose to stay with him but I am to the point that she is just a "pig" its not just skin color for Obama, if that were the case why are so many of us white people for him, its his personality and what he stands for that counts. P.S. I am a white girl who is ALL for Obama!!!!!

Daylight Saving Time. Why not adjust the clocks 1/2 hour and then NEVER change them again. It's only arbitrary how you designate the time anyway. It's all about keeping up with the sun in the first place.

I think the School Uniforms are a great idea for all schools, it puts an "Equal Status" for all of the students, and no child would feel out of place. As far as cost it should be kept as low as possible, maybe a discount for New Uniforms for lower income, and a Clean but Used Uniforms program, for a lower cost yet. As a student grows out of his or her uniforms. (This maybe another idea.) A parent said the cost, but it is more costly to buy name brand clothes to try to keep up with those that have the money. It's the Education that is important, not worrying if you have $40.-$100.00 jeans, some children can be so cruel. I think the sports uniforms should be set up the same way, to help people out, no doubt the economy is in a bad way, and one needs all the help anyone could give. It's time to help out our neighbors, and get these schools back to the basics, and back to giving a Quality Education. Thankyou for letting everyone have a chance to list our comments. Carol

I would like to speek on China not following the WTO agreement. The amount of US jobs that have gone to China. Frankly we as americans cant take many more hits.By the time our Men come home the job market will not hold them. They are suposed to be given there jobs back but its still going to cause a mess and leave alot of skilled workers no place to work

I think the demolition of Cole Hall would be using the tragedy as a catapult to benefit from government money. Does every other school or college demolish every building that had something terrible happen in it? If the building would not be done until 2010, how many of the current students will still be there? Sorry, but to me the demolition idea is just a capitalization on those that died.

Why is it that when construction companys tear down home are apartment complexes like the houesing pojects yesterday that they did not recycle all the windos lite bulbs water heaters and so on and put the money toward homeless ?

It's nice that the buses can run early in the mornings to pick up children for school, but it is not very safe for the children having to walk in the streets because sidewalks have not been shoveled as of yet in the early morn. I think superintendents need to think of that also when calling it a snow day. They need to think of the children who have to walk to their bus stops.

WOW $80,000 for a $9million dollar job. Great start. maybe the state thinks its only 1 hole.

Posted by: Doug Location: northern IL
I'd like to comment on the Potholes also. It has been a tough winter on the roads. Cities, Townships, counties are running out of salt. But why? Our Township uses a mixture of salt and chips, sure we have some ice on the roads but not like the highways or the counties or townships that have more money than brains. Let's go out and salt the roads before it snows so that they build up with ice, then go and try to plow the snow and now the ice off the roads. You can't so you go back out the next day after thousands of drivers have put their cars in the ditches. So it takes all day to get the new layer of ice off the roads. Maybe part of the pothole problems is TOO MUCH SALT.

True Essence day spa We purchased a $100 dollar gift certificate for my mother for christmas and since she watches my kids while I am at work she has not had a chance to use it. She was getting ready to use this month but the spa went out of business. We have left messages, sent emails and wrote a letter but have had no luck with a response. Since my mother watches my 2 little ones we wanted to do something nice for her and now I feel we have been scammed. How can they promote these certificates for Christmas and then go out of business a month later. Does anyone have any information on who will honor these certificates or how do we get our money back?

I ALMOST lost my car in a pothole on West State Street (westbound lane, north side) - sign says "Through Traffic, Keep Right" - well I did and now I need to take it to a mechanic b/c the whole front end wobbles now - People pay TOO MUCH in taxes for the roads to go to heck. Has the city of Rockford ever heard of a system called FILLING AND PATCHING POT HOLES??? YOU CAN BUY THE STUFF TO FIX THEM AT MENARDS....GET SOME.

Where do I comment on the potholes in Rockford?

TAX REBATES: The way I've read about and understood the rebate is that it is put up against any future return you may have coming for 2009. If you owe in 2009, you can tack the $600 to what you owe. It is basically a government loan to help stimulate the economy. Not only will it affect your 2009 return, but it will affect your 2008 return as earned income!

Everyone is talking about Alpine Rd between Spring Creek and Riverside, but what about Broadway and Alpine? Talk about crater city. Even thou the city has tried to fix the problem to no avail. The city needs to apply that.01 sales tax to redoing these problem areas. If the city needs to go ahead and fix Alpine and submit the bill to the state for payment.

Posted by: Theodore Buisker Just a heads up to the weather guys. At 4:30 it was 18 degrees here northwest of Davis right now it reads 3.7 degrees at 6:54

I agree about the roads. They're horrible! Huge potholes everywhere! Where did our 1% tax increase go? Because it wasn't to the roads.

Hey Mark, who was it that said "less than normal precipitation and warmer than normal temps" last fall, shortly before Dec. ice storm?

Posted by: judy Location: SE Rockford
Mayor Larry Morrissey was elected because the Rockford people were tired of "Business as usual" with Doug Scott. Looks like this one has been "bought and payed for" too!

Posted by: James Location: Rockford
I just watched Mayor Morrisey and he said something about tax cuts for police. I live on the south east side and want to know where my 1% sales tax that is supposed to go to our roads went. The corner of Alpine and Newburg is nothing but pot holes, i mean rip your tire off pot holes. He said it is up to us to see to it that that money goes to our roads, well where is it?
