Posted: 06/19/2012 - first did this recipe on April 30, 1990. I got it from Judy McKenzie who is a real estate tycoon now. It is still a good one.
Posted: 06/19/2012 - This is from Robert W. Pelton’s book Civil War Period Cookery. It is part of a series of historical cookbooks. These books can be ordered from Infinity Publishing at www.infinitypublishing.com I have taken some liberties with this. I did not use a wooden mixing bowl and I did not sift the flour. They are still good.
