Broccoli (about 1/2 lb.), trimmed and broken into florets
1/2 lb. ziti or pasta of your choice
4 cloves garlic, chopped, sliced or mashed
6 T. olive oil (can be reduced to cut calories or for heart-healthy)
Begin to bring water to a boil.
Chop, slice or mash garlic depending on the strength of garlic you prefer. The smaller the pieces of garlic, the stronger the flavor.
Heat oil in a small pan and add garlic.
Cook garlic and oil over low heat, stirring and watching carefully not to overcook.
Cook broccoli in boiling salted water until tender. Using a slotted spoon or small strainer lift broccoli out of water, cover and set aside. Cook pasta in same water.
When pasta is al dente, add broccoli and stir together.
Drain and toss with oil and garlic.
